Www Workflows Based on Petri Nets

Workflow management is an emerging research area trying to automate business processes. The development of the Internet over the last years has had major impact on workflow management systems. This paper describes a model for workflows based on Petri nets which are well suited to represent discrete dynamic models and provide a solid formal foundation. The workflows can be executed using the Internet. The resulting workflow management system is light weighted, robust, and platform independent. Its usefulness is demonstrated through an example.
